¡Hola! I am excited to be a part of the Range View family this year as the Admin TOSA, which means I perform the duties of the Assistant Principal. Previously, I was the Spanish and English as a Second Language teacher at Range View.
I have been in the field of education since 1998. Before becoming part of the Range View family, I taught in the Adams 27J School District at a bilingual school and worked at the district level too. I have taught third grade, fourth grade, served as a Literacy Interventionist, Dean, Second Language Specialist, English as a Second Language Specialist, Spanish as a Second Language Teacher and served as the 27J District English Language Acquisition Coordinator.
Much like most the students at Range View I grew up only speaking English. I discovered my love for the Spanish language in junior high during my language elective. I hope to continue to inspire and instill the love of language learning and cultural awareness/diversity in the students here at Range View. If you see me don't be surprised if you are greeted with an ¡hola! or ¡adios!. My love of Spanish has taken me many fun places in the world including studying abroad in Mexico, several trips to Peru and time spent visiting other Spanish-speaking locations including Honduras, Belize, and most of central Mexico.
My Dad was in the Navy so I was born in Puerto Rico and we were stationed in Mississippi for awhile too. Ironically, the last place we were stationed was Denver, Colorado. Did you know there are more sailors recruited from landlocked states than any other?!? I only remember living and growing up in Northglenn, Colorado. I attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley for both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Spanish Bilingual/Bicultural Education. I enjoyed my time at UNC so much so that I now teach there as an Adjunct Instructor in the subject area of English as a Second Language. Go Bears!
In my free time you can find me spending time with family and friends, traveling (I can be packed and ready to go in a matter of minutes!), going to hockey games, crocheting and/or making cards. I'm also always on the hunt for new metal lunch boxes to add to my collection!
