I knew from the time that I was a young girl that I wanted to be a teacher. I grew up in many places across the United States because my dad was in the Air Force but no matter where I lived, making connections to my school and community was very important to me. I received my BS in Elementary Education at West Virginia University. I have taught in SC, KY and CO for over 25 year in K, 1, literacy and Title 1. My husband is also a teacher (and researcher) at the University of Northern Colorado in the biology department. I have 2 children; Andy plays professional baseball and Emily is studying to be a school counselor. I love spending time with my family and celebrating every special moment!
I also love coming to school each day and challenging students to develop as fully as possible. The connections I make with my students last a lifetime. My goal is to make a difference in each child and work with the families to help mold the citizens of the future.
"We can't teach the future without attending to the moments of today.
Each day counts and each is made up of moments" (Johnston)
