Hi! My name is Carrie Hartman. This is my sixth year teaching first grade here at Range View Elementary School. Severance schools played a large part in my family history. My father's mother played basketball for the Severance Girls Basketball Team in 1923 and 1924 and my mother attended Severance School back in the 30's and 40's!  I grew up on a farm southeast of Severance and attended 4-H in the old Severance Town Hall. I completed 12 grades in the Windsor Schools and graduated in the 70's.  I went to Lutheran colleges in the midwest and started my teaching career in Windsor where I taught 4th grade for 9 years. After I got married, I moved to Utah. In Utah, I taught fifth grade for 3 years, stayed home to raise my children, and then taught first grade for 2 and a quarter years. On September 1, 2010, my husband died of melanoma cancer and I returned to Colorado because both of our families live in this area. I enjoyed teaching art during spring semester in 2011 and have been teaching first grade here at Range View since August 2011. I have 3 children who are all out of high school.  I enjoy observing nature, walking or hiking, growing flowers, reading, and teaching! Teaching first graders is my happy thing! I love equipping them to read, write, add and subtract, investigate, think, develop friendships, and improve personal relationship skills. Science is my passion, but I love teaching reading, writing, and math as well. I work to create a safe, organized, and happy environment. I look forward creating relationships with students and families this year!
