Purple, What did you see and hear? (RL6.7)
- Due No Due Date
- Points 0
You may have to come back to this assignment over the course of a few rounds of Daily 5. Don't rush, do your best work. :)
- Before starting this assignment, please get a blank piece of notebook paper. Draw a Venn Diagram on your paper, and title the diagram, "Comparing Different Presentations". See below for an example of a Venn Diagram. You do not need to write different, same, and different.
- Next, label one side of your diagram "Read to Self" and the other "Listen to Audio".
-
Now you're ready to read the poem, Casey at the Bat. As your reading, think about:
- What you 'see' and 'hear' as you read the poem...what do you imagine in your head?
- What images do you see in your head as you read? Think about what the setting looks like, what characters look, and what you imagine happening.
- Fill this information in on your Venn Diagram on the side labeled, 'Read to Self'.
- Be sure that you've filled in this side of your diagram.
-
Now, you're going to compare your reading of the poem (in your head) to a WONDERFULLY read audio version of the same poem. You may listen to the poem a few times, but you will be thinking about the same things as when you read the poem to yourself.
- What you 'see' and 'hear' as you listen to the poem...what do you imagine in your head?
- What images do you see in your head as you listen? Think about what the setting looks like, what characters look, and what you imagine happening.
- Fill this information in on your Venn Diagram on the side labeled, 'Listen to Audio'.
- Put anything that is the same in the middle of your Venn Diagram (you may need to erase from the side you're already completed).
- Show me your Venn Diagram at our next conference. Do not go onto the next assignment until we've discussed this.
